About Us

The Arizona Avicultural Society has been serving Arizona’s avicultural community for over 30 years and is thought to be the state’s oldest and largest bird club. The Society provides the following services:

Educational Programs: The Society hosts an educational event on a different topic each month. The club has invited renowned aviculturists from across the world who have lectured on themes ranging from breeding finches to aviary design, without skipping anything in between. Budgies, Cockatiels, a range of Parrots from the gigantic Macaws to the small Parrotlets, Canaries, Toucans & Soft-bills, Disease & Healthcare, Genetics, Avian Medical Research, International Conservation efforts, and many more themes have been covered in the past.

Newsletter and Directory: All club members receive a club directory as well as a monthly newsletter. The newsletter’s objective is to keep the membership informed about the organization. It includes articles and/or educational pieces and keeps the membership up to date on hot subjects, current news, and Society events.

Bird Marts: The Society hosts semi-annual bird marts that include a broad variety of birds and bird-related items. The bird marts were established to assist club members in marketing their birds and bird-related items, and they continue to do so. This big event is conducted in the spring and fall and attracts a large number of tourists each year.

Lending Library: The Society has a lending library full of good books, publications, and movies about birds and bird-related topics. The majority of these helpful materials are available to any club member. Due to the high expense of some reference materials, they cannot be checked out, but they can be examined or reviewed at any meeting.

Trips and Tours: The Society offers trips and tours for its members on a regular basis. The annual highlight trip is to the Pomona Bird Mart in California, which is one of the largest such events in the United States. Trips to numerous areas of interest within the state of Arizona, ranging from animal preserves to tiny zoos and private collections, can also be planned.

Social Events & Networking: The Society allows you to meet and connect with individuals who share your passion for birds. Through the Society, you may build a large network of bird-related connections and have access to a wealth of knowledge from experienced bird-keepers and breeders. It is each member’s goal and commitment to share what they have learnt while also educating and assisting the next generation of aviculturists.
